Ecompex – a small, mission-oriented government-contracting firm with over 20 years of experience – is recruiting for an HR/Operations Specialist as part of our Headquarters team who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to make impact and help drive our processes and growth. You will manage core HR functions including, but not limited to – onboarding & offboarding, employee relations and retention, compliance – and jump in wherever the business needs operational support. You’ll interface daily with Ecompex President/CEO, team leads, and employees.
Job Description: HR/Operations Specialist
Primary work location: 100% remote work in DC Metropolitan Area. Occasional in-person lunches or meetings at HQ Office in Arlington, VA.
Travel Expectations: Opportunities to travel for on-site visits if needed. Not Required.
Position Type: Full-Time, Salaried position with benefits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Employee Lifecycle: Manage recruiting, offers, onboarding, orientation, benefits and payroll support, offboarding
- Employee Engagement and Retention: Resolve conflict and issues, develop and administer team building and retention programs
- Compliance: Maintain personnel files and oversee audits
- Process Improvement: Maintain HR/Ops metrics and insights, collaborate directly with leadership on workforce planning and organization
- Responsibilities may change from time to time based on company needs
Minimum Qualifications:
- MUST be a U.S. Citizen and be able to pass a background check
- At least 5 years of experience as an HR generalist or people-operations position
- Working knowledge of HR regulations such as E-Verify/I-9, Benefits Administration, Record Keeping
- Hands-on experience with HR software, Applicant Tracking Systems, and productivity software such as Microsoft 365 and task tracking tools
- Proactive management skills to handle a variety of tasks
- Clear and confident communicator – experience briefing leadership and fielding new-hire questions
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (highly preferred)
- A current SECRET or TOP SECRET Clearance (highly preferred)
- Experience in federal government contracting industry (highly preferred)
- Professional certifications such as SHRM-CP, PMP
- Experience with CMMC, ISO 9001, or other compliance certifications
- Basic Power BI skills
